Mind Set

With this post, I want to dive much deeper! Is the reality you think you wake up to, in fact real? Some say that there is a lot more at hand than what meets the eye… or your mind. I am not sure how many of you are into quantum mechanics or quantum theory, but I find this world of science profoundly interesting! I do not claim to have a high level of understand of quantum mechanics/theory by any means in this blog. I am just expressing my fascination with the endless possibility of our interpretation of reality, or the illusion of reality.

Descartes was very close when he said, “I think, therefore I am.” The idea is that your conscious and reality are very closely entangled. In a show that I recently watched, it was explained that our brains are weak in the sense that it filters out unnecessary information and therefore your perception is full of holes, so to speak, of the world around you. The example they gave is when someone is watching a magician. The brain concentrates on the hand the magician directs you too, therefore you missed what he was doing with the other hand.
“The idea that everything we know is merely a construction of our minds is investigated in the episode of the Science Channel program "Through the Wormhole," hosted by Morgan Freeman. "What is real?" Freeman asks in the show. "How can we be certain that the universe around us actually exists? And how can we know that the world we see matches what anyone else experiences? For example, money, in reality, consists of pieces of paper, yet those papers represent something much more valuable. The pieces of paper have the power of life and death, Freeman says — but they wouldn't be worth anything if people didn't believe in their power. Money is fiction, but it's useful fiction. I still believe that your mind set has a lot to do with the way you perceive the world around you. For example, if you tend to be more of a positive person, you find the good in everything and live a more positive life style. But, if you are more on the negative side of the scale, you will see the bad in everything. It is like the old adage, is your glass half full (positive), or half empty (negative). Optimistic people tend to live longer, healthier, more successful lives, Sharot said in the program “Through the Wormhole”, and the act of positive thinking can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. "If you think you're more likely to get promoted, you're more likely to put in more effort and work long hours," Sharot said. Therefore, you are more likely to get that promotion.
A good book to read about positive thinking and attraction is “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. Not saying I agree with everything that was stated, but is a very interesting concept. I feel that there is a little more to it than just positive thinking and attraction, there has to be some action still on your part.
